At Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Services, we specialize in the personalization of funeral services. Almost without exception, if you want it, we can arrange it! Here we present some ideas for your consideration:
- Arrange photographs on a Photo Gallery, provided at the funeral home. Many times, friends and relatives gather around these galleries remembering with special fondness a vacation, wedding, birth, fishing trip or maybe even just a family back yard barbecue. Either you, or the funeral home staff, can arrange the photographs on the gallery.
- Bring in a series of photographs synopsizing the life of the deceased. Harris Funeral Home will arrange to have the photographs set to music and recorded onto a DVD. This tribute can be played during the visitation at the funeral home. You may want additional copies for other family members.
- Arrange for a favorite song or hymn to be played during the funeral or memorial ceremony. Harris Funeral Home has an extensive library of pre-recorded music, and almost anything can be located. Freebird, Thanks for the Memories, Taxi Driver, Go Rest High on the Mountain and Bette Midler's You Are My Hero are just some of the special requests we've been able to fulfil in the past. If its meaningful to you, we'll do everything in our power to make it happen. If there is a favorite CD or cassette tape that was often played, please bring it in so that we may have it playing during visitation.
- Have the children or grandchildren do the readings at Church. In a Catholic Church, have the grandchildren bring the gifts forward during mass.
- Bring in favorite items to display in the visitation room. Perhaps there was a collection of lighthouse figurines, or a special set of dishes. A favorite thing could be a fishing pole, golf clubs, baseball hat, scarf, or award. Bring them in, we'll arrange a meaningful display of the items.
- Pick flowers from your garden to be incorporated into the family's casket spray of flowers.
- Bring in the cologne or perfume that the deceased always wore. We'll use it.
- Display the family's heirloom quilt on a quilt rack, or on the casket in lieu of the traditional casket spray. If you wish, the quilt can be placed over the deceased for burial.
- Many caskets offered by Harris Funeral Home offer options for personalization, like:
- LifeSymbol-corners, which can be removed and kept as a keepsake. Examples of corners available include crosses, "mom," "dad," treble cleft, angel, Pieta, golf, and eagle and Flag.
- Commemorative embroidered designs are available for the open lid of the casket. Military emblems, golf motifs, flowers, baseball and religious symbols are all available.
- MemorySafe-drawers are included in many caskets. In this special drawer in the casket, you can place letters, pictures of the grandchildren, a bible, or any other items of significance you'd like the deceased to be buried with.
- If the deceased was a Veteran, we can arrange military honors at the graveside. This is a fitting tribute to one who honorably served our country.
- Let us know if there is a special route you'd like the funeral procession to travel. We'll arrange, with the motorcycle escort service, to follow this route. Going by the family's home with the funeral procession can usually be arranged with advance notice.
- Have a friend or relative deliver a personal eulogy during the funeral service.
- Arrange to have a memorial service at a favorite location. This can be a favorite restaurant, the boat dock at the lake, a park, or the yard at home. A memorial service doesn't have to be a formal, structured event. Sharing memories with family and friends should be the focus of the event.
These are just a few ideas. We're here to help you make the funeral a meaningful experience. If you have other thoughts or ideas, please let us know.
