Alayna Marie Gonce, 8, of Waterloo, SC died Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was born in Greenwood, the daughter of Danielle Coursey.
Alayna, a third grade student at Waterloo Elementary School, had a vibrant, engaging personality. Every day she enjoyed singing and dancing. Listening to music, especially Queen and JoJo Siwa, brought her many happy hours. Unicorns fascinated her and they, along with cats, were here favorites. Her cat, Ichabod, was a joy to her; he was her constant companion.
She was preceded in death by her “Poppy,” Danny Timmerman.
Alayna is survived by her mother, Danielle Coursey (Richard Kirkland), of the home; grandparents, Shannon “GiGi” and Frankie “Papa” Baer, of Abbeville and Jay “Papa” and Susanna “Nona” Coursey, of Hodges; uncles and aunts, Jeff (Gloria), Jacob (Josie), Jameson, Davis, Valinda (Kevin), Stephen, Ashley, Melissa (Jason), Lindsay (Chris) and Holly; special cousins, Caiden, Holden, Kellen, Hunter, “Lulu” and Caroline; and a wide circle of extended family, friends and supporters.
A Celebration of Alayna’s Life will be 2:00PM, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Waterloo Elementary School, 10457 Highway 221S, Waterloo, SC 29384.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Greenville Memorial Hospital PICU and HEM-OMC, Unit 5-A for their attentive care and compassion given to Alayna.
