Albert Marcus Kidd, III, affectionately known as Mark, 67, loving husband of Sheri Hilley Kidd, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Elberton, GA to the late A.M. Kidd, Jr. and Irabeth Crosby Kidd.
A proud graduate of Calhoun Falls High School in 1976, Mark played an integral role in leading the Blue Flashes to the 1975 Upper State A Championship. In his youth, he worked as an ironworker and welder, contributing to the construction of the Richard B. Russell dam. Later, Mark dedicated over 30 years of his life to Prysmian Cable where he served as an industrial mechanic. He retired with a legacy of steadfast service and dedication.
Mark took great joy in making others smile. Whether through his witty humor or acts of kindness, he touched the lives of many with his infectious laughter and warm heart. Mark enjoyed all sports and hunting, finding his greatest joy in the outdoors. He was happiest spending time with his beloved grandchildren, sharing his passion for nature with them.
In addition to his parents, A.M. and Irabeth Kidd, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandmothers, Mittie (Shine) Waters Kidd and Gaynell Shadron Sellars.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Sheri; son, Albert Marcus ‘Max’ Kidd, IV; daughter, Chelsea (William) Broome; five cherished grandchildren, Aiden, Tristan, Rory, Oak and Remi; stepdaughter, Samantha Castro; two sisters, Beth Kidd and Marcia Barrett; and a brother, John Scott Kidd.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be planned for a later date.
