Albert J Yoder

Albert J. Yoder of Abbeville, SC went home to be with the Lord Friday evening, October 4, 2024, following a sudden illness. Born in Walnut Creek, Ohio, he was the son of the late Jacob and Orpha Troyer Yoder. 

On January 31, 1970, Albert married Marie Overholt Yoder in Hartville, Ohio. He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Chapel of Due West, SC. Albert worked with his two sons in Custom Home Building, and helped manage a peach business with his wife, sons, and grandchildren, in Berlin, Ohio. Albert loved God, and had a passion for truth, and passing truth on to future generations. He never met a stranger and found great fulfillment in helping others, especially those who were often overlooked. Albert loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as his horses. You would often see him riding his horse and cart down the road on a Sunday afternoon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother James (Ruth) Yoder and brother-in-law, Andy (Edith) Mullet.

Albert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie, and their four children, Wendy Thomas (Tim) of Pickens, SC, Brenda Yoder Beiler of Hendersonville, NC, Jason Yoder (Carol) of Abbeville, SC, and Darrell Yoder (Monica) of Abbeville, SC; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and six siblings, Edith (Andy) Mullet, Edwin (Marylou) Yoder, Robert (Cindy) Yoder, Fran (Ivan) Miller, Sarah (Vernon) Miller, and Hannah (Tom) Bitticker.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 6:00PM - 8:00PM, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Cold Springs Mennonite Church, 226 Cold Springs Church Rd. Abbeville, SC 29620. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, 10:00AM, at Cold Springs Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in The Lighthouse Cemetery.
