Alison Bowie Blalock, 47, wife of Tom F. Blalock, Jr., of Alpharetta, GA, formerly of Abbeville, SC, died Saturday, August 31, 2013, at her home. She was born in Abbeville to Rock and Nancy Blanchett Bowie. Alison was a 1983 graduate of Abbeville High School and a 1987 graduate of Columbia College. Working at the local neighborhood restaurant, Never Enough Thyme, in Alpharetta, it was evident Alison made many lasting friends. She was a member of the Windword Lake Tennis Club where her passion for playing tennis was fulfilled. Alison was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Donna Blalock. She is survived by her husband, Tom, of 23 years; a daughter, Kelsey Paige Blalock, of Columbia, SC; her parents, Rock and Nancy Bowie, of Abbeville; three sisters, Deirdre McCullough, of Iva, Carmen Bowie of Columbia and April Bowie of Abbeville; her father-in-law, Tom F. Blalock, Sr., of N. Charleston, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Harris Funeral Home in Abbeville. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Alison will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. Tom and his family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Crossroads Hospice, and the many nurses, doctors, friends and relatives for their compassion and helpfulness. A special thank you to her sister, her twin, her best friend and co-caregiver, Carmen Bowie, for all that she has done and for all she continues to do.
