Alpha M. 'A.M' Johnson, Jr.

Alpha M. ‘A.M.’ Johnson, Jr., 89, of Abbeville, husband of Barbara ‘Frankie’ Rourk Johnson, died, Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at his home. He was born in Orangeburg, SC to the late Alpha M. Johnson, Sr. and Gyula Fogle Johnson. 

A.M. retired from PCA (Packaging Corporation of America) after many years for dedicated service. He cherished moments spent with his family, creating lasting memories with love and laughter. A.M. had a deep appreciation for music, especially bluegrass gospel and country music. He worshipped at South Side Baptist Church and Grace UMC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol J. Copeland and brother, Charles Allen Johnson.

A.M. is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frankie, of the home; two daughters, Tina Alexander (Curtis) of Abbeville and Angie Creswell (Aaron) of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Brad, Michael, Brandon, Ashlie, John Rhett, Missy; and ten great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate A.M.’s life will be 11:00AM, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel with Rev. Jason Wilson officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives immediately following the service.
