Vanna Iola Annis Anderson Saxon, 102, of Hodges, formerly of Calhoun Falls, SC, died Friday, November 26, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Commerce, GA to the late Henry Callaway Pressley Anderson and Mary Agnes Eleandor Barrilla Huntsinger Anderson.
Mrs. Saxon, served as a volunteer nurse during WWII and was employed for many years with Burlington Industries. She tirelessly enjoyed working in her garden and growing flowers. An active member of Northside Baptist Church in Calhoun Falls, SC, Mrs. Saxon taught Sunday School, member of WMU, involved with the State Park and Nursing ministries but most importantly, she was a prayer warrior.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Benjamin ‘Red’ Saxon, two sons, Bennie Edward Saxon and Donald Ray Saxon; four brothers, Junior, Drue, Julius, and Dewitt; five sisters, Merrill, Lula, Theora, Onie and Willie.
Mrs. Saxon is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Saxon Bradley and her husband, Herman, of Hodges; six grandchildren, Laura, Jamie, Terena, Shane, Leah and Laci; twelve great-grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Jeremy, Mitchell, Alex, Drew, Trey, Jameson, Thomas, John, Sadie, and Sloan; six great-great-grandchildren, Zoey, Nora, Remi, Corrina, Colton and Ezra.
Graveside services for Mrs. Saxon will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 30, 2021, in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, 6556 Elberton Hwy, Tignall, GA 30668 with Rev. Mike McMinn, Rev. Herman Bradley and Rev. Jerry Dalton officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
The family is at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Herman Bradley in Hodges, SC.
