Arvilla "Ann" Hammond

July 2, 1947 — November 24, 2013

Arvilla 'Ann' Hammond, 66, of Abbeville died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. She was born in Abbeville to the late James Roy Thomas Hammond, Sr. and Maggie Mobley Hammond. Ms. Hammond enjoyed many indoor hobbies including reading, script writing, trivia and working crossword puzzles. She especially loved to watch the hummingbirds from her window at the Abbeville Nursing Home. Ms. Hammond was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. With her love and care, she became a mother, sister and auntie-figure to her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Faye Hammond, a brother, James Roy 'Jimmy' Hammond, Jr. and a nephew, Kenneth Eugene Wilson. Ms. Hammond is survived by her two sisters, Maggie Thelma Hammond Wilson and Cynthia Sue 'Susie' Hammond, both of Abbeville; seven nieces and nephews, Phyllis Wilson of Anderson, David Wilson of Pelzer, Kathy Goss of Belton, Sabrina Dunn and Greg Wilson, both of Anderson, and Suzanne Wilson and Michael Moore, both of Maine; seventeen great-nieces and nephews; and thirty great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Harris Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be private in Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Ms. Hammond, may be sent to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1417 Cokesbury Rd., Greenwood, SC 29649. The family is at their respective homes.
