Azile M. Hawthorne

Azile McNeil Hawthorne, 94, formally of Abbeville, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Advanced Rehab and Health Center in Clearwater, Florida. She was born in Abbeville to the late John Henry McNeil and Effie Wilson McNeil. Mrs. Hawthorne worked as a bookkeeper for Reid Motor Company and she and her husband, the late Ralph E. Hawthorne, owned and operated Hawthorne Furniture Company in Abbeville and in Clearwater, Florida. She attended both the Baptist church and Methodist church while living in Abbeville and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Largo, FL. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin G. McNeil, Sr. Surviving Mrs. Hawthorne are her daughter, Patricia H. Jennings and her husband Terry of Clearwater, Florida; two nephews, Sonny McNeil and Bill McNeil of Abbeville. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM to 2:30PM on Sunday, October, 26, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 3:00PM in Long Cane Cemetery with the Rev.
