Barbara Ann Brown, 82, of Johnson City, TN, formerly of Abbeville, SC, wife of the late James Calvin Brown, went to be with her Lord Jesus, Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Johnson City NHC Nursing Home. She was born in Abbeville to the late James and Frances Long.
Barbara was a faithful servant to the Lord always willing to help anyone in need. She had a passion for reading, talking about her Lord, solving crossword puzzles, cherishing moments with her family, savoring her daily cup of coffee and enjoying a refreshing Coca Cola. The memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Barbara was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Abbeville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Arnold and brother-in-law, Barry Crook.
Barbara is survived by two daughters, Sarah Nicolai (Tim) and Edna Cox (Petey); two sons, Richard Brown (Tonya) and Robert ‘Tootie’ Brown; brother, Rev. James Long (Betty); two sisters, Nancy Tollison and Carolyn Crook; brother-in-law, Boyd Arnold; thirteen grandchildren, Rebecca Brickle (John John), Kristy Davidson (Chad), Heather King (Jonathan), Kayla Brown, Cody Brown (Kaylyn), Evan Smith, Justin Smith, Leslie Carbary (Dave), Cole Brown, Briannan Jones, Summer Harvley, Destiny Brown and Dillon Brown; twelve great-grandchildren, Austin Wilson (Anslee), Kaylee Lewis (Zackary), Lily Irwin, Emma Grace Davidson, Brookelyn Smith, Donavan Irwin, Maddox Brown, Bayley Harper, Gracee Brookelyn, Brantley Harper, Olivia King and Beau Brown. During Barbara’s life, she was fond of her friendship with her niece, Janet Arnold Nix.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM, Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel with Rev. James Long officiating and special words by Rev. Boyd Arnold. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the Johnson City NHC Nursing Home staff with a special thanks to Chassity Sawyer and the Johnson City Caris Hospice staff for their care of Barbara. Also, a special thank you to Boones Creek Christian Church in Johnson City and Tammie Payne.
