Benjamin Francis Jackson, 91, of McCormick, SC, husband of Claudell Coutee Jackson, died Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.  He was born in Detroit, MI to the late James J. Jackson, Sr. and Beatrice Francis Jackson.

 

Mr. Jackson, a graduate of Wayne State University, retired from the Detroit Police Department after 36 years of dedicated service.  Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his unwavering commitment to upholding justice and ensuring the safety of his community.  Following retirement, Mr. Jackson and his wife, Claudell, relocated to the Savannah Lakes Community in McCormick, SC.  He was an avid member of the Bridge Club, enjoyed spending time at the bowling alley perfecting his game and could often be found on the golf course, relishing in the beauty of the sport.  Mr. Jackson will be remembered as a devoted public servant and loving family man.  His family meant everything to him and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Jackson, Jr.

 

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of 44 years, Claudell, of the home; a daughter, Andrea Jackson Whan of Southfield, MI; three sons, Ben Jackson, Jr. of Flint, MI, Darrell Snow of Westland, MI and Derrick Snow of Redford, MI; sister, Margaret Braxton of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Charles Jackson of San Francisco, CA and Cecil Jackson of Detroit, MIseven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
