Bessie Lee Fleming Nance, 94, of Abbeville, wife of the late Harry Nance, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Rosemont at Stone Mountain Assisted Living. She was born in Abbeville to the late Chester and Luvie Alewine Fleming. Mrs. Nance graduated from Abbeville High School, as well as Cecils Business College in Spartanburg. She retired as the Abbeville County Probate Judge with twenty-three years of dedicated service. Mrs. Nance was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Ladies Auxillary, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Abbeville Historical Society, the Bouquet Garden Club and the SC Association of Probate Judges. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Abbeville where she belonged to the Bristow Sunday school class. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll G. Fleming and James C. Fleming. Mrs. Nance is survived by a nephew, Carroll Fleming, of Ninety Six, SC; a niece, Carolyn F. Bannister, and her husband, Daniel Ray McCurry, of Stone Mountain, GA; and a great-nephew, Lucas Lee Bannister, and his wife, Kati, of Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 4:00PM Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 4:30PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. John Keith officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. Members of the VFW and the American Legion Ladies Auxillary will serve as honorary pallbearers.
