Betty Loftis Sammons

Betty Loftis Sammons, 91, of Calhoun Falls, SC, wife of the late Lloyd ‘Bo’ Sammons, Jr., died Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Lakelands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Evans Loftis and Lula Mae Watkins Loftis. 

Mrs. Sammons was a proud graduate of Calhoun Falls High School and dedicated numerous years to her career at Flexible Technologies before retiring as a Bank Teller at Nations Bank in Calhoun Falls. Her commitment to her community was further demonstrated through her active participation at Calhoun Falls Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Circle. A devoted family member, Mrs. Sammons cherished moments spent with her loved ones, particularly enjoying time together while watching the Clemson Tigers.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great-great-grandson, Thomas Gray Sammons; two brothers, Joseph M. Loftis and Billy ‘Goat’ Loftis; six sisters, Aileen Nixon, Claytie Mae McNeil, Mary Ann Breedlove, Elizabeth Purdy, Tabatha ‘Toby’ Thompson and Jewel Grace Botts.

Mrs. Sammons is survived by her five children; Donna S. Lewis (Johnny) of Greenwood, SC, Lloyd E. Sammons, III (Rose) of Abbeville, David S. Sammons (Karen) of Grovetown, GA, Mark L. Sammons (Lisa) of the Nation Community and Kenneth L. Sammons (Krista) of Abbeville; a sister-in-law, Gerry Loftis of Atlanta; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:30PM on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. 

The family will be at the home of Lloyd and Rose Sammons in Abbeville. 

Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Sammons, may be sent to the Abbeville County Humane Society, PO Box 256, Abbeville, SC.
