Betty S. Ware

May 4, 1925 — June 10, 2015

Betty Jean Ware (90) of Abbeville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the Hospice House of the Piedmont in Greenwood after a long bout with cancer. She was born in Charlotte, NC to the late John Cecil Sherrill, Sr. and Cleo Croxton Sherrill. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Thomas Ware; a son, George Linwood Ware, and a brother, John C. Sherrill, Jr.; as well as, her son-in-law, John Dearie, III. Mrs. Ware is survived by her daughter, Linda Dearie; and five grand-children, David Scott Gossett (Debbie), Craig Marshall Gossett, Jason Lin Ware (Amanda), Christopher Lance Ware (Beckie), and Cynthia Zuckernick Johnson; as well as, seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Braxton, Collin, Jaelyn, Seth, Max, and Payton; along with numerous nieces and nephews. As a real estate agent with Johnson Rast & Hayes, Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Ware sold a million dollars' worth of real estate her very first year. Betty and Marshall returned to Marshall's family home place in the mid 1990's and became active members of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville. Betty found joy and formed lasting friendships through involvement in the Cheryl Camp Circle, the Kathryn & Worth Grant Circle, and the Tweenagers. She was a member of the Entre´ Nous Book Club and an avid bridge player in Abbeville and Due West. Betty was also a member of the Little Mountain Presbyterian Church Circle and the Chrysanthemum Garden Club. The family will receive family and friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM, June 16, 2015 (Tuesday) at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC. The service will follow immediately in the First Baptist Church of Abbeville, 307 N. Main Street, at 3:30 pm, June 16, 2015. The Rev. Dr. John Keith and Rev. Reiny Koschel will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Mountain Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Betty Jean Ware, may be sent to FBC Missions, First Baptist Church of Abbeville, P.O.
