B.F. ‘Frank’ Hodges, Jr., 90, of Greenwood died Saturday, December 21, 2019 at his home. He was twice married, first to the late Margaret Shirley Hodges, then to Eleanor Moore Haralson Hodges. Mr. Hodges was born in McCormick to the late B.F. Hodges, Sr. and Amanda McKinney Hodges.
He owned and operated his own pulpwood business for many years and continued to drive the logging truck until the age of 79. Mr. Hodges was a faithful member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church and his Sunday School Class. Known as a gentle giant, he expressed his love and care, especially to his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James W. Hodges and sisters, Fannie Made Cade, Irene Torchia, Margaret Jennings and Odessa Willis Ramsey.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife of 28 years, Eleanor, of the home; children, Frankie Hodges (Linda Dale) of Abbeville and Rev. Alvin Hodges (Debra), Jimmy Hodges and Charlie Haralson, Jr., all of Greenwood; a sister, Annie Louise ‘Doot’ Myers, of Calhoun Falls; seven grandchildren, Brandi Sears (Shannon), Natali Lewis (Darren), Holli Yates (Gilbert), Al Hodges (Denise), Amanda Overstreet (Buddy), Jesse Hodges and Colby Haralson; seventeen great-grandchildren, Sara Beth Sears, Victoria Sears, Christian Lewis (Anna Grace), Hana Grace Lewis, Coleton Grounsell, Teagan Grounsell, Cohen Grounsell, Laylan Yates, Scottlin Yates, Alyse Hodges, Garrett Hodges, Kadyn Hodges, Raegan Hodges, Ryan Stone, Tanner Stone, Bentley Overstreet and Addisyn Overstreet; and a great-great-grandson, Campbell Lewis.
Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Monday, December 23, 2019 in Rice Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church. A private burial will be held in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
