William 'Bill' Tiller, Sr., 87, of Abbeville, husband of Vernice Hardy Tiller, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Abbeville County to the late Franklin O. and Ida Sorrow Tiller. Mr. Tiller served in the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years with Prysmian (Pirelli) Cable. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William 'Billy' Tiller, Jr.; seven brothers and three sisters. Surviving Mr. Tiller is his wife of 68 years of the home; four sons, David O. Tiller and his wife Margaret of Rocky Mount, NC, Harry L. Tiller and his wife Nedra of Aiken, Randy Tiller and his wife Shirlyne of Greenwood and Paul Tiller and his wife Linda of Abbeville; two daughters, Alice M. Blea and her husband Phillip of Blue Springs, Missouri and Pam Driver and her husband Tim of Woodruff, SC; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:30PM Monday, November 5, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. James Long officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the residence.
