Billie Roberta Smith, 85, resident of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, died at Hospice House of the Piedmont in Greenwood, South Carolina on Thursday, February 11, 2010. She was born in Chappells, South Carolina on May 19, 1924, the third daughter of the late William Robert and Nell Williams Smith. In addition to her parents, two sisters preceded her in death, Carolyn S. Lockaby and Nel S. Bevil. She graduated from Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and was employed by State Trust Company there for several years. Later she moved to Greenville, South Carolina where she was employed first at Woodside Worldwide Travel Service, a family-owned company, and later at Shriners' Hospital, from which she retired. She is survived by two nieces, Sandra L. Gettys of Due West and Jill L. Marett of Seneca; one nephew, Dr. Graeme Lockaby of Auburn, Alabama; two great-nieces, two great-nephews and one great-great-niece. The Rev. Calvin Draffin of the Due West Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church will officiate at graveside services Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2:30 p. m. at Lickville Presbyterian Church, 10020 Augusta Road, Pelzer, South Carolina, 29669.
