Blanche Cox Ferguson, 91, passed away on April 24, 2010 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC. Blanche was born in Abbeville, SC on June 1, 1918. She grew up and lived in Abbeville until 2001 when she moved to Covenant Way in Due West, SC. Blanche graduated from Abbeville High School and attended business school in Greenwood, SC. She was a homemaker and worked at Milliken & Co., Neuffer Drugs, Lands Gift Shop and Abbeville Savings and Loan. Blanche was a devoted member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she sat in the same pew every Sunday for over 50 years, was a member of the church circle and the Lillian Killingsworth Sunday School class. Blanche and husband T. Dale were avid Clemson football fans. They were season ticket holders for over 50 years. Even after she gave up her season tickets, she enjoyed watching or listening to every Clemson football game on Saturdays in the fall. She also faithfully listened to the Abbeville High School Panther games on Friday night. Blanche truly was a friend to all and thoroughly enjoyed socializing, meeting new people, and never met a stranger. Her great friends in Abbeville and at Wylie can attest to this. Blanche was an excellent cook and was famous for her fried chicken dinners with macaroni and cheese and country ham breakfasts. She enjoyed having everyone for Sunday dinner and Holiday meals. Everyone was always welcome at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Effie Cox; her husband, T. Dale Ferguson; three brothers, Leslie, Jack and Rob Cox; and a sister, Ida Argo. Surviving Mrs. Ferguson is one daughter, Anita Collins and her husband, Bobby of Greenville, SC; one son, Dale Ferguson and his wife, Sandra of Kingsland, GA; two brothers, Wallace Cox and his wife Jane of Greenwood, SC and Pat Cox of Due West, SC; three grandchildren, Steve Collins of Augusta, GA, Kirkley Kitch and her husband, Ian of Panama, and Anna Ferguson of Kingsland, GA; and one great-grandson, Kaleb. Blanche loved people and was a friend to all. Her family wishes to express gratitude to Kelli Mitchell and her staff for the loving care given to Blanche during the years that she was a resident at Wylie Hall, Covenant Way in Due West, SC. Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, April 26, 2010 in Melrose Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
