Brenda Grace Bragg, 78, of Abbeville, wife of the late Don Bragg, died Sunday, January 5, 2025 at her residence. She was born in Sanford, NC to the late John Matthew and Margaret Strickland McMahan. 

Brenda was a proud graduate of Abbeville High School, Class of 1964, and furthered her education at Spartanburg School of Nursing, graduating in 1967. Her commitment to service led her to become a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army, where she served as a nurse. With a distinguished career spanning 35 years as a Registered Nurse, Brenda dedicated her life to caring for others in various capacities including Outpatient services, Operating Room, Recovery, and as a Home Health Nurse.

In her community, Brenda and her husband played an integral role in establishing the Memorial Day Parade in Abbeville in 2016, showcasing their dedication to honoring those who served. A woman of many talents, Brenda captivated audiences with her beautiful voice for many years, performing in venues from local churches to the town square.

Beyond her contributions in nursing and community service, Brenda was also a published author, known for her work, "Carolina Memory," a historical fiction fantasy released in 2007. Affectionately known as 'Granny Grace,' she brought joy to children by providing weekly stories for the local Press & Banner.

Brenda was a devoted member of Rocky River Baptist Church and actively participated in the American Legion Post 2. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and community involvement will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Brenda is survived by her children, Shawn Michael Bragg of Abbeville and Monique Michelle Steimke (Scott) of Long Beach, CA; a brother, John Lindsey McMahan (Brenda) of Greenwood, SC; five grandchildren, Kristen, Bethany, Addison, Daniel, and Luke. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 6:00PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Harris Funeral Home, 302 North Main St. Abbeville, SC. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, January 22. 2025 at Rocky River Baptist Church, 3234 Lake Secession Road, Iva, SC. Burial, with military honors will follow in M.J. ‘Dolly’ Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Dr., Anderson, SC. 

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests, memorial contributions in memory of Brenda, to be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 A.C. Skinner Parkway, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
