C. Dennis Simpson

C. Dennis Simpson, 67, of Abbeville, husband of Shirley Erwin Simpson, passed away suddenly Monday, December 14, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Abbeville County to the late W. Claude Simpson and Leona Cooper Simpson. Dennis was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was employed as a Senior Engineer in the Thermaflex Division of Flexible Technologies since 1969. Dennis served in the Army National Guard from 1959-1963 and was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #3. Surviving Dennis is his wife of 24 years of the home; three sons, Rhett Simpson of Gaffney, Chris Simpson and his wife Laura of Lexington and Wiley Booth of Abbeville; two daughters, Sherrie Vassy and her husband Mark of Gaffney and Melissa Arant and her husband Rev. Mel Arant of Beaufort; a sister, Rebecca S. Hedden and her husband Roger of Abbeville; eleven grandchildren, Dylan Simpson, Dorian Simpson, Jennifer Vassy, Mary Beth Vassy, Allie Simpson, Alanna Arant, Trey Arant, Gill Arant, Caitlin Knight, Kylie Booth and Thomas Booth; a niece, Lori Hedden of Abbeville; a nephew, Adam Hedden and his wife Christy of Abbeville; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Thursday, December 17, 2009 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mel Arant and Rev. Charles Sperry officiating. Burial, with Masonic Rites, will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Dennis, may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, c/o John Stennett, 1528 Alexander Road, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to a charity of one's choice.
