Carleen Hall Campbell

May 10, 1928 — July 27, 2018

Carleen Hall Campbell, 90, of the Nation Community, wife of the late Lawrence Campbell, died Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. She was born in Abbeville to the late Carl and Virginia Simpson Hall.

Mrs. Campbell, a graduate of Antreville High School, was first employed with Abbeville Shirt Makers. Later, she was an instructor at Piedmont Technical College followed by her tenure with the Abbeville County School District at the Career Center.  She retired from there after many years of dedicated service.  Mrs. Campbell excelled in her talents as a seamstress; she constructed many window treatments for homes throughout the surrounding areas. Her family and many friends were recipients of her sewing proficiency and her excellence in cooking. In recognition of her distinguished ability and service, in 1989, Mrs. Campbell was named the Abbeville County Woman of the Year. She was a member of Bells United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Cason Campbell.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her sons, Lawrence “Larry” Cleon Campbell, Jr. (Connie Snipes), Dr. Carl Michael Campbell (Mary Evelyn Cason), James Harold Campbell (Fay Manning) and David Earl Campbell (Shirley Yonce); sisters, Laurita Hall Wilson of Abbeville and Beth Newell and her husband Jimmy of Abbeville; nine grandchildren, Kevin Brian Campbell, Kelli Sue Campbell Robertson (Allen), James “Jay” Harold Campbell, Jr., Mary Virginia “Ginni” Campbell Patterson (Matt), Ramey Melissa Campbell Crawford (Max), Michael “Mikki” Susanne Campbell, Christopher Lawrence Campbell, Carley Nicole Campbell, and Camryn Grace Campbell; and ten great-grandchildren, Campbell Robertson, Allie Robertson, Connor Campbell, Madison Campbell, Mary Patterson, Ella Robertson, Will Patterson, Law Crawford, Easton Campbell and Knox Patterson.

The family will receive friends from 3:30PM to 4:30PM Monday, July 30, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 5:00PM Monday, July 30, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Scott Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Bells United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Campbell, Brian Campbell, Jay Campbell, Matt Patterson, Max Crawford, Allen Robertson and Dakota McGrarity.

The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Campbell.
