Caroleen T. Mattison

Caroleen Tucker Mattison, 91, of Abbeville, SC, passed away on August 13, 2024, at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC. She was born in Abbeville to the late James Lamar and Louise Getsinger Tucker, and wife of the late James T. Mattison and the late Orvis V. Brock. 

Mrs. Mattison was a 1950 graduate of Antreville High School and retired from Eastman Chemical Company (Solutia) after many dedicated years of service. She was a faithful member of Rocky River Baptist Church and the WMU.

Caroleen was preceded in death by son, Donald Lee Brock; siblings, Betty Jean Tucker, Charles David Tucker, Johnny Frank Tucker, James Cleveland Tucker; brother-in-law, Harry Scharling; and nephew, Benjamin Bratcher. 

Caroleen is survived by one sister, Barbara T. Scharling; two sisters-in-law, Louise Tucker, and Judy Elder; thirteen nieces and nephews, Patricia (Steve) Lusk, Renee (Harry) Creasy, Tripp (Kelly) Scharling, Kim Griffin, Derrick (Angie) Tucker, Mike (Cindy) Tucker, Richard (Anne) Tucker, Christi (David) Dotson, Cheryl (Billy) Griffith, Ronnie and Lucille Mattison; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Kathleen Banks, Emerald Gardens ALF staff and residents, Greenwood, SC, Sam & Sandy Milford, Gerald & Earlene Milford, Steve & Susan Glenn, Sue & Gene Burton, Dorothy Fleming, Will & Sue Poteat, Cody & Allison Fields, Mike & Julie Fleming, Becky Wofford and Tommy Arnold. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00PM to 1:00PM, Friday, August 16, 2024, in Rocky River Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Harold Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Caroleen, may be made to Rocky River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3266 Lake Secession Rd. Iva, SC 29655.
