Carolyn Kae Baker. 72, of Savannah Lakes Village, wife of Larry Baker went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2014. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Arthur D. and Dorothy Leona Briggs Beers. Mrs. Baker moved with her family to the Chicago area and then to Holland, MI for 22 years. In 2001 Carolyn and her husband Larry retired to the Savannah Lakes Village. In addition to being a wife and mother, her passions included antiques, gardening, P.E.O., volunteering at church and schools, reading, golf and traveling. In 1999, as a member of the Holland Garden Club & a Master Gardener, her yard was honored with "Garden of the Year". Carolyn's passion for gardening continued with the McCormick Garden Club. She loved the challenge of learning to garden in the south and the constant battle with the deer! Antiques led her to a successful business in buying and selling in an antique mall and over the internet. In 1992 she was initiated in the P.E.O., a national woman's sorority where she served as president of Chapter DF in Holland, MI. As a devoted member of McCormick First Baptist Church, Carolyn served on several committees and for 6 years oversaw the responsibilities of food fellowship, formally naming the volunteer group "Kitchen Angels". Just before her illness, Carolyn was pleased to be named to the Long Range Planning Committee assessing the goals of the church.
