Carolyn Tapscott Gingerich

Carolyn Tapscott Gingerich, 80, of Abbeville, wife of the late Joe Gingerich, died Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Self Regional Healthcare.  She was born in Norfolk, VA to the late John L. and Grace Marie Jones Tapscott.

Carolyn was employed with Creative Designs Hair Salon in Greenwood as a beautician.   She took great pride in her work and was known for her compassion and kindness she exhibited to her customers. In addition to her work as a beautician, she and her late husband owned Gingerich Gas Service in McCormick.  Carolyn loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Carolyn is survived by her two sons, Marty Gingerich of McCormick and Kevin Gingerich (Diana) of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Kelly Gingerich and Taylor Timmerman (Matt), all of Abbeville; three great-grandchildren, Alexia Vickery, Brody Vickery and Gracie Gary; one great-grandson and one great-great-grandson on the way.

The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:00PM, Friday, July 7, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 2:30PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Billy Stoll officiating.  Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
