Carolyn R. Hobi, 75, of the Savannah Lakes Village, wife of Jack H. Hobi, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at her daughter's home in Fayetteville, NC. She was born in Milwaukee, WI to the late Wilson and Doris Erickson Blank. Mrs. Hobi received her associate's degree from Concordia College in Wisconsin. She was retired from the city of Mentor, OH after 15 years of service. Mrs. Hobi created a preschool for the town with emphasis on children's programs and camps. After she and her husband moved to the Savannah Lakes Village, she was an active participant in the McCormick County Republican Women's Club. Mrs. Hobi was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and attended McCormick First Baptist Church where she was enthusiastically involved in the Good News Club and Vacation Bible School. Her compassion for women's ministry, encouraging them to impact their communities for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, was displayed through her membership in the Stonecroft Ministries. Mrs. Hobi is survived by her husband, of 54 years, of the home; two sons, Kevin Hobi and his wife, Maureen, of New Boston, NH and Kent Hobi and his wife, Gloria, of Mentor, OH; three daughters, Kimberly Baugus and her husband, Tim, of Fayetteville, NC, Kristin Igel and her husband, Greg, of DeLand, FL, and Kathryn Kubiak and her husband, Matt, of Painesville, OH; a sister, Barbara Kaemmer of Dallas, TX; and fifteen grandchildren, Brandon, Kara, Kent, Hope, Titus, Timmy, Nicole, Luke, Nathan, Seth, Sam, Silas, Aislyn, Roman, and Colton. The family will receive friends 12:30PM – 1:30PM, Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in McCormick First Baptist Church, 108 Oak Street, McCormick, SC 29835. Funeral services will begin at 1:30PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery, 5481 Hwy. 28 N, Abbeville, SC 29620.
