Cecil ‘Pete’ Ware, 87, of Abbeville County, husband of Jeanette Burton Ware, died peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Iva, SC to the late Clyde Davis Ware and Carrie Blanchett Ware. Mr. Ware served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired as a rural mail carrier after 30 years of dedicated service. Mr. Ware was a lifelong member of Little Mountain Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Elder and Deacon, member of the Men of the Church and taught the Adult Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Korean War Veterans Association, Disabled Veterans Association, and retired firefighter with the Antreville Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marshall Ware. Mr. Ware is survived by his wife of 67 years of the home; a son, Bryan C. Ware and his wife, Bambi of Iva; a daughter, Diane Hamrick and her husband, Danny of Greenwood; two brothers, William Ware of Abbeville and George Ware of Spartanburg; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:30PM Monday, July 3, 2017 at Little Mountain Presbyterian Church with Rev. Darrell Fetzer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial. The family is at the residence.
