Charlene Mccurry Hedden

March 3, 1951 — October 10, 2016

Charlene McCurry Hedden, 65, of Abbeville, wife of Jerry Hedden, died peacefully, surrounded by her family Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Abbeville County to the late Charles A. and Loretta Hartsell McCurry. Charlene was a 1969 graduate of Abbeville High School and retired from Capsugel® after many years of dedicated service. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church, the Designing Women Circle and Fellowship Sunday School Class. Charlene enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. Her personality was charming, winning and delightful; her faith was constant, influencing those around her. Charlene's family and friends held her heart. She counted caring for her special little buddies, Wade Crocker and Zac Brooks, a joy. They, along with everyone who knew her, will cherish her memory. Charlene is survived by her husband of 47 years of the home; a son, Kevin Hedden and his wife, Jenni; a daughter, Angie Hedden Ferguson and her husband, Barry all of Abbeville; a brother, Willie McCurry and his wife, Mary of Calhoun Falls; two sisters, Nancy 'Ginny' Vann and her husband, Jimmy of Abbeville and Julia Vermillion and her husband Robert, of Donalds; six grandchildren, Stephen A. Hedden, Anne Marie Ferguson, Samantha C. Ferguson, Caleb N. Hedden, Hannah Beth Hedden and Thomas J. Ferguson. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, October 13, 2016 in Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 4:00PM Friday, October 14, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Little and Rev. Zack Little officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home. Memorial contributions, in memory of Charlene, may be sent to South Side Baptist Church, PO Box 237, Abbeville, SC 29620 or to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
