Charles Henry Humphrey, 78, of Due West, husband of the late Earnestine Porterfield Humphrey, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Marianna, Fl., to the late John James & Armetta Simmons Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Air Force while serving he received the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. He was a graduate of Clemson University and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Humphrey retired after many years with the Wilson Sporting Goods Manufacturing Company. Mr. Humphrey is survived by his four sons; William H. "Hank" Humphrey of Due West, Donald J. "Don" Humphrey of Swansea, James J. 'Jerry" Humphrey and his wife Lynnette of Ninety-Six, and Matthew S. "Matt" Humphrey of Anderson; three brothers, Alvin Humphrey of Rock Hill, Gary Humphrey of W. Columbia and Jerrell Humphrey of N. Augusta; a sister, Louise Taylor of Irmo; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Harris Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11:00AM Monday, August 17, 2009 in Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood. The family is at their respective homes.
