Charles Wilbur Link, 76, of Troy, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at his home. He was born November 26, 1947, to the late Wilbur Henry Link and Elizabeth Brock Link Burrell. He would have been married to Connie Percival Link 56 years on July 20, 2024.
Charles served his country in the United States Navy. He graduated McCormick High School and Piedmont Technical College. Charles was a lifelong member of Buffalo Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He retired from the former UTC Aerospace Systems in Greenwood, SC.
Charles grew up in McCormick County. He loved his wife, girls and his grandchildren very much and was proud of each one of them. Charles made a profession of faith and was baptized around the age of 14. He served the Lord in various ways over the years. Charles was a “quiet” server of the Lord. His mission outreach was his local community. Until his stroke in 2018, he would visit the sick and shut-ins taking his grandkids visiting with him many times over the years. Even after the stroke, he would have a grandchild or daughter drive him to someone’s house to check on them, visit for a few minutes or just to say hello or he would give them a call. Charles even volunteered Connie to make pies or food for people to make them feel loved.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Link Busbee.
Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie, of the home; two daughters, Angela Fairey (Clint) of Greenwood and Kimberly Brown (Shane) of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Blake Brown, Chad Fairey (fiancée, Rachel Fornal), Lauren Brown Pendleton (Coston) and Holly Fairey; and brother-in-law, Butch Busbee.
The family will receive friends 5:00PM-7:00PM, Friday, July 19, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville, SC. A service to celebrate Charles’ life will be 3:00PM, Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Buffalo Baptist Church, McCormick, SC.
