Clarence Arthur Lawton

Clarence A. Lawton, 92, of Abbeville, husband of the late, Mildred Ruth Prince Lawton, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Abbeville Nursing Home. He was born in Abbeville to the late W.D. and Rosa Lee Lawton. Mr. Lawton proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and retired from the former Milliken & Co. – Abbeville Plant. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Bud Lawton; three sisters, Ruby Link, Allie Mae Norton, and Eunice Pruitt; and a daughter-in-law, Robbie Hall Lawton. Mr. Lawton is survived by his son, Tommy Lawton of Abbeville; daughter, Trudy Louise Lawton Ursenbach of Burnside, KY; brother, Morris Lawton of Hodges; sister, Frances Leslie of Abbeville; three grandsons, Chad Hall, Jason Hall, and Jamie Ursenbach and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services, with military honors, will be 4:00PM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016, in Melrose Cemetery with Rev. James Long officiating.
