Clelia Cannon, 86, of Abbeville, wife of the late Walter Harper Cannon, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Anderson County to the late Sloan and Kate Wilson Darby. Mrs. Cannon retired from Abbeville Manufacturing and was a longtime active member of the Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Colds Spring Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving Mrs. Cannon is a daughter, Glennis E. Cannon of Greenwood; a son, James W. Cannon and his companion Betty Suttles of Abbeville; a brother, Thurston Cannon of Taylors; six sisters, Ruth McCuen of Honea Path, her twin sister - Clarice Kay of Honea Path, Annie Haynie of Belton, Thelma Davis of Belton, Wilma Lusk of Honea Path and Alice Darby of Honea Path. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM to 2:30PM Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will follow in the church sanctuary beginning at 3:00PM with the Rev. Dr. John Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the home of Mr. James W. Cannon in Abbeville.
