Clyde Herbert Fleming, 87, of Abbeville, husband of Rose Knox Fleming, died Wednesday, March 05, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Abbeville County to the late Clyde and Eunice Campbell Fleming. Mr. Fleming served in the US Army during WWII. He retired after 37 years of dedicated service with the U.S. Postal Service and was a charter member of the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Fleming was a devoted member of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder, and a faithful member of the Adult Fellowship Class. He was a man of humility, a well-respected member of the Sharon Community, an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Fleming, a brother, John Will Fleming and two sisters, Elizabeth Robison and Rebecca Strawhorne. Surviving Mr. Fleming is his wife of 67 years of the home; two sons, Billy Fleming and his wife Betty of Abbeville and Charles Fleming and his wife Janine of Spartanburg; a daughter-in-law, Lynda Fleming of Chester; six grandchildren, Brent Fleming (Melissa), Anna Westerlund (Alan), Ashley Fleming and fiancé Brandon Stephens, Will Fleming (Marianna), John Fleming and Joe Fleming; two great- granddaughters, Taylor and Sela Westerlund. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM Friday, March 7, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Abbeville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Carol Strickland and Dr. Robert Todd officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
