C.S. Gus Parthemos

C.S. Gus Parthemos, 88, of Abbeville, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Bon Secour St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. He was born in Abbeville to the late Steve and Katina Parthemos. Gus was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a 1941 graduate of Abbeville High School. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII. Gus retired as Director of the S.C. Fire Marshall's Office after many dedicated years of service. He attended Erskine College and was an avid Gamecock fan, an avid follower of local, state, and national politics, and a friend to everyone he met. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Nick and George Parthemos; and two sisters, Mary P. Wilson and Pota P Trakes. Surviving Mr. Parthemos are a brother and sister-in-law, James and Helen S. Parthemos of Richmond, VA , a sister in law, Georgia Parthemos, of Athens, GA, a brother-in-law, Morgan Wilson of Mauldin; four nieces, Pota Murphy of Dallas, Texas, Elaine Jameson of Columbia, Katina Strauch of Charleston, and Pota Elaine Stephens of Atlanta, Georgia; and three nephews, Steve Parthemos of Charlotte, NC, Nick Parthemos of Winchester, VA and Stel Parthemos of Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends from 10:30AM to 11:30AM on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Harris Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 12:00 Noon in Melrose Cemetery with Rev. Father Allam Marreddy officiating. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Parthemos, may be sent to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
