Curtis Carroll Ferguson, 83, of Iva, husband of Louise Truxal Ferguson, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the Hospice House of the Upstate in Anderson. He was born in Abbeville County to the late John P. and Maggie Nance Ferguson. He was a graduate of Erskine College and continued his advanced studies at the University of South Carolina. He was recruited into the U.S. Missile Program and taken to the Patuxent Naval Air Test Center in Patuxent, Md. Then he went to the Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory in Buffalo, NY; following he went to the Radiation Research Division with Martin-Marietta Aerospace Center in Orlando, FL. He later returned to South Carolina where he and his wife taught at Dixie High School and retired from the Abbeville County School System. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Wallace Ferguson; two sisters, Ellen Ferguson Eakin and Margaret Ferguson. He is survived by his wife of 54 years of the home; two brothers, Sam Albert Ferguson and Herbert Harris Ferguson; a sister, Molly Jane Ferguson all of Abbeville; 20 nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Bells United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Ferguson, 454 Diamond Mine Rd., Abbeville.
