Damon C. Thompson, 79, of Duluth, GA, formerly of Calhoun Falls, SC, husband of Martha Ellis Thompson, died Sunday, October 31, 2021, at the Cummings Health and Rehab in Cummings, GA. He was born in Rock Hill, SC to the late James Clarence Thompson and Grace Maddox Thompson.
A 1960 graduate of Calhoun Falls High School, Damon was employed with the former Lockwood Greene Engineers in Atlanta, GA as an architect retiring after more than 30 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Damon was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Thompson and Ridgely Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha; two sons, Carey Thompson of Buford, GA and Chris Thompson (Allie) of Rabun Gap, GA; brother, Duane Thompson (Sandra) of Lake Secession, SC; sister-in-law, Marsha Thompson of Greenwood, SC; and three grandchildren, Christopher Damon Thompson, Jr., Daisy Lee Thompson and Hawk Davis.
Graveside services will be 2:00PM, Thursday, November 4, 2021, in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 2699 Hwy. 72W, Abbeville, SC 29620 with Rev. John Ellis officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so between the hours of 10:00AM and 4:00PM, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel.
