Dawn "Scott" Strawhorn

Dawn Scott Strawhorn, 74, of Greenwood, wife of Joseph E. ‘Joe’ Strawhorn, gained her angel wings on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Self Regional Healthcare.  She was born in Abbeville County to the late Emmett Scott, Sr. and Evelyn Bowie Scott.

Dawn, a 1962 graduate of Abbeville High School received a degree from Anderson College.  She obtained a license to practice cosmetology from Charzanne Beauty College in Greenwood.  As a cosmetologist, Dawn was employed by Magnolia Manor and Harley Funeral Home.  She retired after many years of service and was of the Baptist faith.  Dawn spent happy hours and days at Edisto Beach, yard sales, taking pictures and especially loving on her family.  Dawn and her husband, Joe, had a love story like no other, spending 31 years together.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael E. Wells and brother-in-law, Jim Arduengo.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; three sons, Troy Scott (Julie) of Abbeville, Todd Cox (Megan Smith) of Greensboro, NC and Billy Wells (Amanda) of Ninety Six; two daughters, Ann Cleveland (Brian) and Debbie Harris (David) all of Whitmire; a sister, Georgie Arduengo of Abbeville; a brother, Emmett ‘Scotty’ Scott (Tina) of McCormick; nine grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1:00pm – 2:00pm, Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 2:30pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Kevin Rust officiating.  Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
