Debra Hughes Batson

Debra Hughes Batson, 66, of Abbeville, wife of Dennis Batson, died Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at her home.  She was born in Greenwood to the late Frances Gable and R. J. Hughes.

A graduate of Abbeville High School, Class of 1976, Debra dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family.  She was known for her passion for music, her adventurous spirit and her fondness for collecting treasures that brought her joy.   Debra was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Boyd and Dale Pinson; three sisters, Robbie ‘Toby’ Richardson, Karen Pinson and Martha Ann Hughes; and two great-grandsons, Eastyn and Sawyer.

Debra is survived by her husband of 26 years, Dennis, of the home; two sons, Jeremy (Lisa) Alewine of Waterloo and Cory (Kim) Alewine of Abbeville; daughter, Brandee (Shane) Floyd of Abbeville; a brother, Perry (Mary) Pinson of Hodges; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:00PM, Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel.
