Derrell Lee Burdette

Derrell Lee Burdette, 70, of Conway, SC, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, after a long battle with a respiratory illness at the Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.  He was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Hiram Edgar Burdette and Gladys Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Cox Burdette. 

A graduate of Piedmont Technical College, Mr. Burdette earned his Associate degree in Accounting.  He was employed with Park Seed for five years, the Greenwood Post Office for 17 years and retired from AP Security in Myrtle Beach, SC.  Mr. Burdette’s passion was horticulture; his yard was a show place of colorful and exotic flowers.

He is survived by his son, Adam (Lori) and two granddaughters, Eva Marie and Kaylee Elizabeth of High Point, NC; sister, Donna Welch and special niece, Crystal Lee Welch, both of Abbeville, SC; two great-nieces, Elizabeth McCurry (Michael) of Greensboro, NC and Carson Boseman (Ikeem) of Abbeville, SC and great-nephew, Bryan Lee McCurry of Abbeville, SC.

The family will receive friends 11:00AM - 12:30PM, Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home, 302 N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC 29620.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM, Saturday, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Paul Cooper officiating.
