Donald "Donnie" Singleton

July 10, 1935 — September 7, 2009

Donald "Donnie" Singleton, 74, husband of Mary P. Campbell Singleton, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born in Abbeville to the late James H. and Lula New Singleton. Mr. Singleton served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Plexco Plant in Abbeville after many years of dedicated service. He attended the Congregational Holiness Church and was an avid Abbeville High Panther Fan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all that knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister & brother-in-law, Betty S. & M.A. Balchin. Surviving Mr. Singleton is his wife, Mary of 52 years of the home; three sons, Keith Singleton of Abbeville, Michael D. Singleton and his wife Terri of Hodges, and James Darren Singleton of Abbeville; a brother, James M. 'Jimmy' Singleton and his wife Mary Ellen of Roebuck, SC; twelve grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 3:00PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in the Fellowship Hall of the Congregational Holiness Church. Funeral Services will begin at 3:30PM in the sanctuary of the church with Rev. Tye Sorrow and Rev. Wendell Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. The family is at the residence.
