Doris Walker Timms

Doris Virginia Walker Timms, 95, of Abbeville, SC, passed away March 19, 2024, at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.  She was born June 26, 1928, to the late Julian Walker and Rosalee Knox Walker in Abbeville County.  

Doris, loving referred to as “Gogo” was a beautiful and selfless soul.  She worked hard to provide for her family, ultimately retiring from the Abbeville County School District in 1993.  Doris was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church, never missing an opportunity to share a prayer.  She was, and forever will be, the perfect example of love, patience, kindness and joy.

In addition to her husband of 72 years, Wilborn A. Timms, Jr. and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Timms and several brothers and sisters.

Doris is survived by her children, Linda Hamrick (Barry) of Greenwood, SC and Blake Timms (Olivia) of Tamassee, SC; grandchildren, McCain Hamrick of Charlotte, NC, Brooks Casteel (Chris) of Asheville, NC, Rachel Berry (Randon) of Branchville, SC, Tayler Bock (Dylan) of Greenwood, SC, William Billbrough of Washington, DC, Cooper Timms of Tamassee, SC, Natalie and Knox Berry of Branchville, SC, Blakely and Lucy Casteel of Asheville, NC and Brixtyn and Harley Bock of Greenwood, SC.  In addition to her children and grandchildren, there are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that were very special to her.

Doris and her family are eternally grateful for everyone that has been a part of her beautiful life, especially her wonderful caretaker, Gina Webb.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30PM, Sunday, March 24, 2024, in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Claire Van Den Berg officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Doris, may be sent to Grace UMC, 145 Grace Drive, Abbeville, SC 29620.
