Doris Thomas Wilson, 90, of Abbeville, wife of the late John Henry ‘Bowie’ Wilson, died Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Iva to the late George Diver ‘Div’ Thomas and Leila Mae Turner Thomas.
Mrs. Wilson was a 1948 graduate of Lowndesville High School and member of Providence Presbyterian Church. A dedicated nurse for 46 years, she retired from Abbeville Memorial Hospital after 23 years and Abbeville Nursing Home after 23 years of service. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed attending the Lowndesville Community Center Dance Nights, listening to country music, and watching her soap operas.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George D. ‘Rooster’ Thomas and a sister, Sarah Henderson.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her son, John H. ‘Buddy’ Wilson (Kathy) of Abbeville; a brother, James Earl ‘Judge’ Thomas (Barbara Jean) of Lake Secession; a sister-in-law, Miyuki Shieata ‘Mike’ Thomas of Lowndesville; three grandchildren, Chris Wilson (Anna), Kimberly Ann Smith and Amy Tucker (Wayne); four great-grandchildren, Libby Gragg (Tony), Drew Wilson, Colton Smith, and Trent Tucker; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kyle and Amelia Gragg.
Graveside services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Scotty Willoughby officiating.
