Dorothy 'Dot' Finley Harmon, 91, of Abbeville, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Self Regional Healthcare. Mrs. Harmon was born in Abbeville to the late William Clifton and Louise Smith Sharpton. She was twice married, first to the late Paul Andrew Finley and then the late Walter R. Harmon. Mrs. Harmon retired from Milliken & Co – Abbeville Plant cloth room with 42 years of service. She co-owned the former Golden Strip Hobby Shop in Simpsonville and Spartanburg. Mrs. Harmon was the oldest member of the Warrenton Presbyterian Church and active as long as her health allowed. In addition to her parents and husbands, Paul and Walter, she was preceded in death by a son, James 'Jimmy' Finley and his wife Donna McCurry Finley; a daughter, Nancy F. Mundy and her husband Donald; a grandson, Paul Lee Speer; a brother, Bill Sharpton; and three sisters, Edith Parnell, Evelyn Norris, Sara Fowler Arters. Mrs. Harmon is survived by her two daughters, Carol F. Speer and her husband Ben and Karen F. Nicholson and her husband Clyde all of Abbeville; a sister, Mildred Byars of Rock Hill, SC; ten grandchildren, Donna, Alison, Hugh, Kelly, Reggie, Carmen, Tracie, Andrea, Jill and Clint; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm – 2:30pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00pm on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family expresses sincere appreciation to The Renaissance (Wylie) staff and many friends for the care and love shown to Dot.
