Dorothy Reid O'Neal Morgan, wife of the late Charles Cothran Morgan, Jr., of McCormick, SC, departed this life and entered eternity on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Friends will be received by her family on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM in the Church Hall of McCormick First Baptist.. A Service to honor and celebrate her life will be held following the visitation on Saturday at 4:15PM in the church, officiating will be the Rev. Allam Marreddy and the Rev. Douglas Kauffman. Interment will follow in the McCormick City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Marion Robert Henderson, Thomas Raymond Henderson, Jr., George W. Long, John Thomas McGrath, III, George William Patterson, Jr., and Wallace B. Wood, Jr. Mrs. Morgan was the daughter of the late Joseph Millard O'Neal and Ida Etheridge O'Neal of Selma, NC., born October 19, 1923. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Millard O'Neal, Jr of Roanoke Rapids, NC. She was an honor graduate of Brenau College with majors in Chemistry and in French. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Mrs. Morgan was reared in the Presbyterian Church, but, after her marriage, became a member of the McCormick First Baptist Church where she served faithfully for many years. She was an active participant in the cultural, social and charitable organizations of McCormick, taking leadership roles in many of them. Surviving Mrs. Morgan are her four children; Charles Cothran Morgan, III of Abbeville, SC, Joseph O'Neal Morgan and his wife Karen of Lincolnton, NC, Diane Morgan Brower and her husband Robert of Gainesville, GA and James Michael Morgan and his wife Nancy of Abbeville, SC; four grandchildren, Jeremy O'Neal Morgan and his wife Amanda of Greenwood, SC, Brittney Morgan McClellan and her husband Seth of Oak Park, IL, Michael Clary Morgan and his wife Allison of Lexington, SC and Alison Reid Morgan of Lincolnton, NC; seven great-grandchildren, Layla Zaim of Lincolnton, NC, Landon Raines Morgan and Collins Adair Morgan of Greenwood, SC, Myles Clary Morgan and Mason Thomas Goodman of Lexington, SC and Ingrid Reid McClellan and Vera Helen McClellan of Oak Park, IL. Mrs. Morgan's gentleness and warm greetings will be remembered with deep affection and thanksgiving for a life well lived in faithfulness, humility and loveliness.
