Edna Brown Harris

Edna Brown Harris, 81, wife of the late Gerald S. Harris, Sr. of Abbeville died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Charlie Earl and Annie Spence Brown. She was a retired nurse who tirelessly served the people of Abbeville at the office of Dr. George Fort and Abbeville Area Medical Center (Abbeville County Memorial Hospital). She was a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald S. Harris, Jr.; two brothers, Cecil Brown and Bud Brown; and a sister, Barbara B. Brown. Surviving Mrs. Harris are her three daughters; Brenda Loftis and her husband Johnny, Lisa Parker and her husband Lowrie, and Lara Harris all of Abbeville; one brother, Paul Brown of Greenwood, two sisters, Marion Brock and Carolyn Ferqueron, both of Troy; seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Harris Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 27 at Troy City Cemetery, Troy, SC. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Harris to John de la Howe School, 110 De La Howe Family Circle, McCormick, SC 29835. The family is at their respective homes.
