Edna Newell Wilson

Edna Newell Wilson, 89, wife of the late Waudine Dwight Wilson, of Abbeville, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Abbeville to the late Emory and Lois Williamson Newell. Mrs. Wilson was a graduate of Abbeville High School and Anderson Business School. She retired from the Abbeville Shirt Plant after having worked there for over 25 years. Sewing brought Mrs. Wilson much joy and she used her talent as a seamstress throughout her life not only for work, but for her family and friends, as well. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by a brother, Waymon Newell and a sister, Hazel Hammonds. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald W. Wilson, and his wife, Judy, and S. Dale Wilson, and his wife, Debbie; a brother, Jimmy Newell, and his wife, Beth, all of Abbeville; a sister, Sara Ann Wolfe, and her husband, Mandel, of Hales Corners, WI; a sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Newell of Abbeville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:30PM Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 4:00PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jason Wilson and the Rev. Dr. John Keith officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family is at the home of her son, Dale and Debbie Wilson. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Wilson, may be sent to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
