Edwin L. Sorrow, Sr., 89, of Abbeville, husband of the late Cloris Allie Moss Sorrow, died peacefully Sunday, March 20, 2016 at his home. He was born in Abbeville to the late Tolbert Jackson and Lucy Eutisha Tyner Sorrow. Mr. Sorrow proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He served on the USS LST-945 in the Phillipines. Mr. Sorrow retired from the textile industry and was a member of the Missionary Movement Church. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Sorrow. Mr. Sorrow is survived by two sons, Lamar Sorrow, Jr. of Anderson and Brad Davenport of Abbeville; three daughters, Emily S. Partain and husband Leonard of Abbeville, Sharon S. Shaw and husband, Doug of Anderson, and Samantha S. Polatty and husband, Lee of Abbeville; one brother, Sanford T. Sorrow and wife, Dixie of Abbeville; nine grandchildren, Andrea Garcia (Rick), Ben Partain (Gena), Lauren Manley (Micheal), Hannah Chasteen (Shannon), Susanne Shaw, Trai Sorrow (Leigh), Tasha Lancaster (Charlie), Kaitlynn Polatty, and Taylor Polatty; twelve great-grandchildren, Braden Sorrow, Tanner Sorrow, Lilly Partain, Mollyanna Page, Ty Chasteen, Brent Chasteen, Katie Lancaster, Olivia Smith, Elizabeth Manley, Seth Manley, Chloi Garcia, and Sully Garcia; and one great-great grandson, Sawyer Smith. The family will receive friends 3:00pm – 4:00pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 4:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery with military honors.
