Elizabeth Brown Kelly, 79, of Forsyth, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Family will greet friends for visitation at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Forsyth Methodist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Richard Jelley and Pastor Jody Barfield officiating. Elizabeth will be laid to rest in Due West Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Due West, South Carolina on Tuesday, December 11, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to Save-A-Pet, P.O. Box 933, Forsyth, Georgia 31029, in honor of Elizabeth Kelly.
Elizabeth was born on December 26, 1944, in Pulaski, Virginia, to the late Thomas Dickinson Brown and Mary Oglesby Brown. She married the love of her life, John Kelly, and they were married for fifty years. Elizabeth was a graduate of Emory University with a degree in Library Science, and she was director of the Mary Vinson Memorial Library in Milledgeville, Georgia for many years. She was Library Director when the current building was constructed in 1986. Elizabeth also loved birds and animals, especially her cats who adored her. Some of Elizabeth’s hobbies that she enjoyed were shopping, reading, and traveling. Her greatest trip was her trip to India with her husband.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, John Kelly; her brother, Gilbert Brown (Mary Lynn) of Knoxville, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
