lla McCurry Perry, 94, of Abbeville, wife of the late James L. "Digger" Perry, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. She was born in Abbeville to the late Paul E. and Rosa Ariebelle Bowick McCurry. Mrs. Perry was a proud American and cherished her right to vote. She enjoyed volunteering as a poll watcher during elections. Mrs. Perry worked for many years at the Dutch Oven where she will be remembered as always being gracious and having a welcoming smile. She was a devoted member of the Abbeville Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, William A. "Bill" McCurry, Everett H. McCurry and Albert McCurry; a half brother, Marshall McCurry; three sisters, Grace McCurry, Betty Morrah and Vera Wallace; and a half sister, Alice Faye McCurry. Surviving Mrs. Perry is her daughter, Ann Perry Richardson of Hilton Head, SC; a son, Wallace Perry of Greenwood; two grandsons, Mark Richardson and Greg Richardson; four great-grandchildren, Laurel, Ethan, Tyler, and Colin; and a brother, Julius L. McCurry and his wife Opal of Abbeville. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:00Pm in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ray Massey officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at their respective homes.
