Frances Ethelene Rice Martin, 89, of Abbeville, wife of the late James Ralph Martin, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at her home. She was born in Elbert County, GA to the late Oren E. and Mary Frances Johnson Rice. Mrs. Martin was a long-time employee with Milliken and Co. – Abbeville Plant and retired from Tasco Mill in Calhoun Falls. She was a former member of Rocky River Presbyterian Church where she faithfully served as treasurer and pianist for many years. Presently, she was a member of the Calhoun Falls Presbyterian Church and the Golden Age group. Mrs. Martin, through her membership in the Calhoun Falls Garden Club, enjoyed displaying her talents of floral arranging. She found beauty in flowers and creative designs. The love and affection of her family brought peace and happiness to Mrs. Martin. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Rodger M. Martin; five siblings, O.J. Rice, Bertha Rice Federico, Genora Rice Spero, Chester Rice, and Adell Rice; and granddaughter, Tonie Martin Lewis. Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, William "Stan" Martin and his wife, Sherry of Abbeville; a granddaughter, Julie Martin Nelson and her husband, Nick of Irmo; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alex, and Anna; and loving nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 2:00PM – 3:00PM, Friday, October 28, 2016 in Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel, 526 E. Savannah Street, Calhoun Falls, SC 29628. The funeral will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lee P. Kennerly officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1025 Welcome Church Road, Elberton, GA 30635.
