Evelyn Christine Fields, 79, of Abbeville, wife of Ralph Fields, Sr. died Friday, October 25, 2013 at Self Regional Medical Center. She was born in Abbeville County to the late Charlie and Jessie Hammett Smith. Mrs. Fields worked at the Abbeville - Milliken Plant for a number of years and retired from Cato's Clothing Store as a manager after many dedicated years of service where she received a number of service awards. She attended Congregational Holiness Church. Evelyn was a loving and devoted wife to Ralph Fields, Sr. for 59 years. Her favorite thing in life was spending time with her family who loved her dearly. She made a tremendous and positive impact on her family and will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Fields will also be remembered for her kindness and acceptance of everyone she knew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Fields, Jr. Surviving Mrs. Fields is her husband of the home; a daughter, Carolyn Powell; two grandchildren, Michele and Bobby Jackson and Chad and Stacia Powell; three great-grandchildren, Nikki and Nathan Jackson and Chloe Powell all of Abbeville; and three sisters, Faye Ratliff, Emily Smith both of Abbeville and Nancy Fleming of Donalds. The family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 4:30PM on Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earl Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the residence. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Fields, may be sent the S.C.
